This week, Megan Troughton, 89 Petals’ floral designer tells us more about the favourite flowers she likes to use in her stunning bouquet creations. She's also added some care tips to ensure your flowers stay in perfect shape for as long as possible.
I spend my time designing your gorgeous bouquets and making sure they are full of the most beautiful, unique blooms. We love to use seasonal flowers here at 89 Petals and believe they offer the best quality, value, variety and total lushness to our customers.
Here is a round-up of some of my favourite seasonal varieties that you can expect to see on your bouquets throughout Spring.
These little darlings are one of my all-time favourite blooms. Naturally beautiful, delicate and charming. They are available throughout the spring season and appear in a wide variety of colours from subtle pastel shades through to vibrant pinks and reds.
See this amazing Magenta variety in our Athena bouquet from March 29th.
As with many spring varieties, anemones come tightly closed and take a little while to open. But just wait until the delicate petals unfurl, they are so worth the wait.
These totally swoon-worthy blooms have been a firm favourite for us and our customers this season and I have included them in most of our spring designs. A beautiful little swirl of tightly packed petals that just keep on opening. They are a perfect fit with the loose, natural, unique style of our bouquets.
We included this unbelievably dreamy peach variety called Elegance Coral in our Calliope from 2nd March this year.
As with anemones, they take a little while to open out. They last a surprisingly long time and only get more beautiful as they open up. If they outlast the other blooms in your bouquet pull them out, snip the stems short, place them in a jam jar on their own and enjoy.
This well-loved spring flower will feature in many of our bouquets right up until the end of April. It is available in such a wide variety of colour and shapes from delicate single petalled varieties to more luxurious double petalled with large blousy heads. We love to use interesting and unusual varieties in our bouquets. Look out for a gorgeously vibrant orange British grown beauty this month.
Behold! This absolutely delicious cream coloured variety from our Electra bouquet on the 16th March. It’s called Verona, such a beauty.
Tulips actually continue to grow in the vase. True Fact! If you find them towering over your other blooms yes they have grown you are not going mad. You can trim the stems or just go with it and let them do their thing.
And there you have it! Three of our very favourite petals of the moment. Fancy receiving your very own stunning bouquet, straight to your door, every two weeks? Head over to our Treat Yourself page.
